Private security guards appeal for Inclusion in the 24-Hour Economy programme

The President of the Private Security Guard Association of Ghana (PSGAG), Roland Obibah Mensah, has appealed to the government to include private security guards in the 24-hour economy programme.
He emphasised the importance of a robust security framework as a prerequisite for the successful rollout of the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) 24-hour economy initiative, led by President John Mahama.
The 24-hour economy aims to introduce targeted policies across various sectors to establish a three-shift system, enhancing economic output, stimulating growth, and revitalising the economy.
In an exclusive interview with Apiah-Kubi on Fabea FM, Mr Obibah Mensah stressed the need for private security guards to be included in the programme.
"To effectively run the 24-hour economy, security is very key and vital," Mr Obibah Mensah stated.
"Given the security status of the country, private security guards are also crucial in ensuring people's protection," he stressed.
The PSGAG is adapting its security model to strengthen existing protocols and support the 24-hour economy programme.
Mr. Obibah Mensah highlighted that the 3-shift strategy will require more security personnel, and therefore, the government should include private security guards in the recruitment process.
In conclusion, the Private Security Guard Association of Ghana's appeal for inclusion in the 24-hour economy programme highlights the crucial role private security guards can play in ensuring the success of the initiative.
"By including us in the recruitment process and leveraging our expertise, the government can enhance security and promote economic growth", Mr Obibah Mensah ended.
