Mahama appoints Korean national as envoy to South Korea

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated eight distinguished individuals to serve as Ghana’s Ambassadors and High Commissioners to various countries, as part of efforts to enhance the nation’s diplomatic engagements and strengthen bilateral relations.
The nominations, made in consultation with the Council of State, were announced in an official communication signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.
Key among them is Kojo Choi, a Korean-born Ghanaian as Ambassador -Designate to South Korea
The diplomatic appointments span key regions and reflect the administration’s commitment to deepening Ghana’s global presence and promoting strategic partnerships.
The nominees and their respective assignments are as follows:
Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Harruna Attah – Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Namibia
Kojo Choi – Ambassador-designate to the Republic of South Korea
Dr. Kwame Ampofo – Ambassador-designate to Hungary
Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey – Ambassador-designate to the Italian Republic
Magnus Kofi Amoatey – Ambassador-designate to the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Kenneth Akibate – Ambassador-designate to Burkina Faso
Said Saleh Sinare – Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Paul Evans Aidoo – High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Kenya
In a related development, President Mahama has also directed a change in Ghana’s diplomatic representation to the Vatican City State.
Mr. Benedict Batabe Assorow has been nominated as Ambassador-designate to the Vatican, replacing Mrs. Satirich Dorcas Ocran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has been instructed to commence the necessary diplomatic and procedural arrangements to facilitate the formalisation of these appointments and ensure the smooth deployment of the nominees to their respective missions.
