'I dropped out of nursing training to marry Daddy Lumba'-Odo Broni
The widowhood dispute involving the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, took a dramatic turn in court after Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, revealed that she abandoned her nursing education because of her relationship with the musician.
Odo Broni, the second defendant in the ongoing inheritance case, made the emotional disclosure during cross-examination as lawyers for the plaintiff, Akosua Serwaa Fosu, continued to challenge the authenticity of her alleged marriage to the late singer.
According to her, she was pursuing a nursing career when she met Daddy Lumba, but later left school due to the demands of their relationship and the role she claims to have played in his life.
She insisted that her sacrifices were evidence of her commitment and the seriousness of their bond.
Her revelation came on the same day the courtroom was thrown into tension when the plaintiff unexpectedly tendered photographs she claims were taken during her 2004 civil marriage with Daddy Lumba in Bornheim, Germany.
The defense protested strongly, arguing that the photos were introduced too late and without proper verification.
Despite their objections, the court admitted the new images into evidence.
Odo Broni’s testimony became a major point of interest as she attempted to defend her position as the legitimate partner of the late musician.
She maintained that her connection to Daddy Lumba went beyond mere companionship, describing years of loyalty and support that she believes qualify her as his rightful widow.
However, the plaintiff’s legal team challenged several photographs submitted by the defence earlier.
Under questioning, the first defendant, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, admitted that the photos featuring Daddy Lumba and Odo Broni were handed to him by Priscilla herself at the musician’s residence.
This revelation raised further doubts regarding the authenticity and context of the defense’s images.
The court session became even more intense when the plaintiff’s lawyer argued that one of the photos tendered by the defence might have been digitally manipulated, pointing out inconsistencies in body proportions and similarities with other documents.
The defense rejected the claim.
With both sides presenting conflicting accounts, the High Court continues its efforts to determine who is legally recognised as the spouse of the late musician—a decision that will ultimately determine control over portions of Daddy Lumba’s estate.
The much-anticipated judgment is expected on Friday, November 28.
