GNFS and NADMO augment collaboration to enhance safety ahead of Christmas
The Eastern Regional Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Command has officially augmented collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the region, intended to improve fire prevention, emergency response and public safety ahead of the Christmas festivities.
During a courtesy call by GNFS on NADMO, best practices to address disasters were discussed. They shared expertise, training, and sensitisation to enhance combined emergency response capacities.
The Eastern Regional Fire Service Director, Assistant Chief Fire Officer l, Timothy Osafo Affum, said as the Christmas drew near, the GNFS had stepped up its fire safety campaign to prevent potential outbreaks during the celebrations.
According to the fire command, the service had broader plans to promote a culture of safety, minimise free-related losses and ensure a peaceful and incident-free festive season across the Eastern Region.
ACFO l Osafo Afum pledged the service's continued collaboration with NADMO and community leaders to promote fire safety awareness to keep safety at the forefront of the festivities.
The Eastern Regional Director of NADMO, Cudjoe Adukpoe, remarked, "Let's us all commit to safety and responsibility ahead of the Christmas festivities.
"Staying safe and responsible is everyone's business," he emphasised.
He commended the GNFS for their courtesy call, noting it was the focus of a high-level meeting held at their office to discuss key areas of coordination, including emergencies and disaster preparedness for public safety.
He commended the fire service team engagement, underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in safeguarding lives and property.
Mr Cudjoe reaffirmed NADMO's commitment to working closely with the GNFS to implement initiatives for the benefit of all in the Eastern Region.
Mr Cudjoe, who received the GNFS delegation, expressed appreciation to the service, describing it as a pleasant surprise.
He emphasised that the collaboration between NADMO and GNFS would deepen and inspire further collaboration between the organisations to widen prevention education, emergency response, and public safety.
The Eastern Regional GNFS delegation was led by the Director, ACFO l Osafo Affum, ADO l Steve Akossah, ADO l Cletus Yitah and ASO 2 Azure.
