Ga Mantse urges stronger public financial management for Africa’s future
His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, graced the opening of the 3rd Annual Conference of the African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) in Accra, where he served as the Special Guest of Honour.
The high-level gathering brought together Accountants General, finance leaders, policymakers, and public sector innovators from across Africa and beyond to deliberate on reforms to strengthen Public Financial Management (PFM) systems on the continent.
Held under the theme “Africa of Tomorrow: Positioning Public Finance Management (PFM) for Economic Prosperity,” the conference focused on aligning PFM structures with the continent’s development agenda, enhancing accountability, and harnessing digital tools to improve financial governance.
In his remarks, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II commended the organisers for prioritising dialogue on financial accountability and institutional reforms, emphasising that effective PFM is critical to Africa’s quest for sustainable economic transformation.
He urged African governments to invest in capacity building, modern financial systems, and transparent governance practices that build public trust and foster inclusive growth.
The conference, which attracted a diverse delegation of experts and practitioners, is expected to produce actionable recommendations to support countries in strengthening fiscal discipline, improving resource mobilisation, and ensuring value for money in public expenditure
