GAF begins investigations into tragic helicopter Z9 accident

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that the "helicopter Z9 that took off this morning at 0912hrs from Accra enroute to Obuasi has crashed in the general area of Sikaman near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region and all onboard are confirmed dead".
GAF, in their Wednesday, August 6, 2025, statement noted "that the crew were, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah".
"The passengers," GAF added, "were Dr Edward Omane Boamah - Minister for Defence, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed - Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed - Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong - Vice Chairman, NDC and Mr. Samuel Aboagye - Former Parliamentary candidate."
The statement signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Captain (Ghana Navy) Acting Director General (Public Relations) extended "condolences to the bereaved families".
"Investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the accident," GAF concluded.
