Asantehene sets final mediation dates for Bawku chieftaincy conflict
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has fixed November 30 and December 1, 2025, for the final session of his mediation efforts aimed at resolving the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy dispute.
In a statement issued by the Manhyia Palace and signed by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Kofi Badu, the Asantehene expressed deep appreciation to all parties for their constructive participation and commitment throughout the mediation process.
The statement explained that the ongoing intervention, spearheaded by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, forms part of broader national initiatives to restore peace and stability in the Bawku area, which has for years been plagued by tensions over traditional leadership, resulting in loss of lives and property.
The Palace further appealed to all factions and residents of Bawku to lend their full support to the peace process, stressing that sustainable stability would bring immense benefits not only to the Bawku municipality but to Ghana as a whole.
