GNPC, Petroleum Commission sign landmark agreement to promote Votaian basin data

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Petroleum Commission have signed a landmark agreement to jointly promote and market seismic and geochemical data from the Voltaian Basin Project, a move aimed at boosting investment in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
The agreement is expected to enhance transparency, ensure fair value for the country’s natural resources, and accelerate exploration activities within the basin.
Acting Chief Executive of GNPC, Kwame Ntow Amoah, described the partnership as a milestone in Ghana’s energy sector.
“This marks a significant step forward in maximising the value of Ghana’s data assets while ensuring transparency and collaboration between the National Oil Company and the Regulator,” he said.
Officials from both institutions emphasised that the collaboration will provide investors with reliable data to guide exploration while strengthening the country’s competitiveness in the global energy market.
The Voltaian Basin, one of Ghana’s key frontier basins, holds potential for oil and gas exploration, and the new partnership is expected to play a critical role in unlocking its prospects, he concluded.
