The Volta River Authority (VRA) will return to the tennis court on Saturday, October 24, 2026, to defend its title at the University of Ghana Corporate Tennis Championship (UGCTC), with GOIL Ghana, Stanbic Bank Ghana and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) set to challenge for the trophy.

The championship starts at 8:00 am on the University of Ghana Tennis Court, with the corporate teams competing for supremacy.

VRA heads into the competition as defending Champions of the UG Corporate Tennis Championship after an impressive performance in the inaugural 2025 edition, where the team defeated GOIL in the final to secure the title.

In the final, VRA won both doubles match, taking the first 9 – 4 and the second 9 – 5 to seal the championship without a deciding singles match. The two victories demonstrated VRA's strength in doubles play and secured the team the victory.

The 2026 edition presents another opportunity for participating companies to challenge the reigning champions for the title.

Since the title is on the line, VRA will want to repeat the form and team spirit that secured them the Trophy the previous year. Their opponents, on the other hand, will be determined to break their defence and dethrone the champions.

Beyond the competition, the championship provides a platform for corporate institutions to encourage healthy lifestyles among employees, strengthen professional relationships and build camaraderie through sport.

All eyes will be on the University of Ghana Tennis Court on Saturday 24th October as VRA begins its quest to retain the title against three determined challengers.

The University of Ghana Corporate Tennis Championship is powered by University of Ghana sports & Wellness Directorate and RITE Sports Services.
