President Mahama and wife begin three-day state visit to Zambia
President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, for a three-day state visit at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema, marking a significant step in strengthening relations between the two countries.
The President, accompanied by First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama, was warmly received on arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by President Hichilema.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Madam Elizabeth Nyantakyi, was also present at the reception.
During the visit, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with his Zambian counterpart, focusing on deepening diplomatic ties, expanding trade and investment opportunities, and enhancing cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
As part of the programme, President Mahama will lay a wreath at Embassy Park in honour of Zambia’s fallen heroes.
He is also expected to address the Zambian National Assembly, where he will outline Ghana’s vision for a more integrated, cooperative, and prosperous African continent.
The President will further engage with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka and co-chair a Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue.
The forum will explore avenues for strengthening economic partnerships, with particular interest in Ghana’s growing digital economy and fintech services.
The state visit highlights President Mahama’s broader commitment to advancing African integration through increased trade, improved connectivity, and the promotion of the free movement of people and goods across the continent.
