Police deploy 300 officers to secure NPP Northern Regional Elections
The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe has urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and order as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) conducts elections for regional executives.
He spoke to delegates, candidates and agents at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium where the Northern Regional NPP elections are being held.
He said about 300 police personnel have been deployed to provide security and maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.
He warned that the police were under strict orders to supervise the exercise and respond firmly where necessary as they would not tolerate any form of misconduct or violence.
"In the past, similar elections have been characterised with issues here and there and it is for that reason that we are here this morning with all the men we have. So far, 300 energetic police officers have been deployed for this exercise and I am assuring you that we are going to live up to expectation," he said.
"I will be here myself to ensure there is orderliness and anybody that would like to take any chances will be dealt with. Let us adhere to all the protocols," he added.
