Traditional Leaders demand fair access to state services in Nima
Traditional leaders of the Nii Odoi Kwao Family of Osu have called on state authorities to ensure fair and equal access to essential public services for residents of Nima in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the head of the family, Nii Odoi Kwao II, expressed concern over what he described as long-standing neglect and discrimination that continue to affect the community, particularly in the acquisition of Ghana Cards and other official documentation.
He explained that the family, which holds the allodial title to the Akanetso lands including Nima, has a responsibility to speak out when the rights and welfare of residents are threatened.
According to him, court rulings delivered before Ghana’s independence established Nima as bona fide Ga land, stressing that residents are citizens entitled to full participation in national life.
The traditional leaders called for renewed political and administrative commitment to place the interests of Nima residents at the centre of governance, while urging credible representation, respect for proper documentation, and investment in education to drive community development.
Regarding the upcoming NDC Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries, the traditional leaders have declared their support for Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, expressing confidence in his ability to effectively champion the interests of the constituency in Parliament.
