Mahama Ayariga, Zanetor Rawlings, 3 Supreme Court nominees to face vetting Thursday

The Appointments Committee of Parliament is set to vet outgoing Majority Leader and Business Committee Chairman, Mahama Ayariga, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following his nomination as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

Mr Ayariga is scheduled to appear before the committee at 9:00 a.m. in Committee Rooms 1 and 2 of Parliament’s Administration Block.

Also scheduled for vetting is Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, who has been nominated as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.

The committee will subsequently consider the nominations of three candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court.

They are Justice Sophia Rosetta Oduokuma Bernasko Essah, Justice Edward Amoako Asante and Mr Anthony Forson Jnr.

The proposed vetting timetable was contained in a memo dated Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

The exercise will cover both the ministerial and judicial nominations submitted by President John Dramani Mahama for parliamentary consideration.
