CLOGSAG Suspends nationwide strike; members to resume work March 24
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, has suspended its nationwide strike following an appeal from the government to allow more time for negotiations.
According to the Association, the decision was taken by the National Executive Committee of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, after reviewing the government’s request for a fourteen-day window to address concerns over the Salary Structure and Conditions of Service of its members.
Addressing the press on Monday, March 17, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo said the suspension of the industrial action is intended to allow space for dialogue and an amicable resolution of the issues.
The Association had earlier embarked on a nationwide strike over unresolved concerns regarding the implementation of a new Salary Structure and improved conditions of service for its members across the civil and local government sectors.
Following the latest decision, the leadership of the Association has directed all members to return to work on Tuesday, March 24.
The National Executive Committee expressed hope that the period granted to the government would lead to meaningful engagement and a lasting solution to the concerns raised by the union.
The Association also urged members to comply fully with the directive and resume their duties as scheduled.
