Kojo Antwi marks Valentine’s week with first memoir launch, spotlighting 4 decades of timeless love hits
From Bands to Ballads to Brilliance: Mr Music Man, The Journey, a memoir of Highlife legend Kojo Antwi officially launches tomorrow Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
President John Dramani Mahama has been announced as the special guest.
Timed to coincide with the 2026 Valentine’s season, the strictly-by-invitation book event is meant to celebrate the musical journey of one of Ghana’s most enduring voices in Afro-pop, Highlife and Reggae.
Co-authored with award-winning writer and filmmaker George Bentum Essiaw, the memoir has been in development for about 18 years and chronicles Antwi’s life from his upbringing in Darkuman to international recognition, spanning four decades of Ghanaian music evolution.
Fans and culture-industry stakeholders are expected to attend the launch with media star Kwame Sefa Kaye as master of ceremonies (MC), which aligns with Antwi’s legacy as arguably the country’s premier romantic songwriter.
His catalogue of love classics, including Rocklyn, Shining Star, Akonoba, Dade Anoma, and Tom & Jerry, continues to resonate across generations and help define the soundtrack of Ghana’s contemporary music scene.
The memoir release reflects not only Antwi’s stature as Mr Music Man, but also the growing convergence of music, publishing and cultural tourism in Ghana’s creative economy.

"For years, the music spoke. Now, the story speaks," the singer explained in a February 5 Facebook post.
"This book honors every soul who crossed my path. Those who lifted me, those who challenged me, and those who unknowingly prepared me for destiny. Some were blessings, some were lessons; all were part of the journey. Mr. Music Man: The Journey. An untold story… finally told."
