Ghanaian artist Haeven has shared the story behind her stage name, revealing that it was born out of one of the most painful periods in her life.

Speaking with Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital on Saturday, March 7, 2026, Haeven explained that she adopted the name while navigating the loss of her parents and searching for inner strength and peace.

She recounted the difficult period, noting that she discovered her mother was gravely ill shortly after completing senior high school. Tragically, her mother passed away. Soon after the burial, her father also fell seriously ill and was given just six months to live.

The singer-songwriter and rapper described the emotional turbulence as overwhelming, particularly as both her parents had been pastors, making her faith feel heavily tested.

It was a time of confusion and stress, Haeven said, adding understood that help would not come from anywhere outside of herself.

Recognising it was a divine realisation, she said she learned to rise, brush the dust off despite her drained strength, accept the situation she was in, and forge forward.

It was from this profound realisation that she created her professional name, Haeven, a combination of heaven and haven. She added that using “heaven” alone as a brand felt “sacrilegious” to her.

Haeven also shed light on her latest six-song EP, titled Gated Community.

She explained that the project reflects the lessons she learned during her trials; how to protect her peace, define her boundaries, and keep chaos and distractions out of her life and mind. This is what she hopes to pass on through her music, helping her listeners find their serene refuge.

The title track captures this journey, offering listeners a glimpse into her resilience and artistry.
