Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has shared its experience in crude oil refining with a delegation from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) as part of an information exchange programme aimed at strengthening knowledge of petroleum refining and related operations.

The delegation, accompanied by the Petroleum Commission (PC), visited TOR on October 21, 2026, where it engaged the refinery’s management and technical team on its operations and experience in processing crude oil into finished petroleum products.

TOR’s Managing Director, Edmond Kombat, and Deputy Managing Director, Alhaji Mustapha Batalima Abubakar, welcomed the delegation and briefed its members on the refinery’s business and operations.

As part of the visit, TOR’s technical team delivered a presentation on the refining process, explaining the various stages involved in converting crude oil into finished petroleum products.

The engagement provided the Ugandan delegation with an opportunity to gain practical insights into local crude oil refining and the operational processes involved in running a refinery.

Speaking during the visit, the Head of Delegation, Arthur Musinguci, said the engagement would help the team better understand the stages involved in refining, particularly the processing of locally produced crude oil.

He said the delegation was keen to learn from TOR’s experience as Uganda advances its plans to establish a refinery.

The visit also provided a platform for the two sides to exchange views on refinery operations and the practical considerations involved in developing domestic refining capacity.

For TOR, the engagement offered an opportunity to share its operational experience and contribute to knowledge exchange within Africa’s petroleum industry.

The visit underscores the importance of cooperation among African institutions as countries explore ways to strengthen local refining capacity, develop petroleum infrastructure and build expertise within the continent’s oil and gas sector.
