Black Stars’ World Cup qualifier budget awaiting Presidential approval-Sports Minister

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the budget for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in October is yet to be approved.
In a statement to the press, the Minister explained that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) submitted a proposal on September 18, which was subsequently forwarded by the Sports Ministry to the Office of the President on September 19. Approval from the Presidency is still pending.
The total budget for the two upcoming fixtures stands at $1.12 million with $733,000 allocated for the clash against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Morocco on October 8, and $387,000 set aside for the home game against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12.
Ghana currently tops Group I with 19 points, three points clear of Madagascar in second place, with two matches left. Only group leaders secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico
