The Member of Parliament for Krachi East Constituency in the Oti Region, Mr Nelson Kofi Dzaba, has taken a swipe at the Minority in Parliament over their decision to stage a walkout during the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review by the Minister for Finance, Dr Casiel Ato Forson.

Mr. Dzaba described the Minority’s action as a calculated move to avoid confronting the positive strides being made by the government in stabilizing and improving the economy.

In a media interaction, the Krachi East MP accused the Minority of hypocrisy, arguing that their walkout was an attempt to disassociate themselves from the very economic challenges they contributed to in previous administrations.

“They simply couldn’t sit through the presentation because they knew the budget contained good news—progress the government has made, and interventions that are beginning to yield results,” Mr. Dzaba said.

He further suggested that the Minority MPs should take responsibility for Ghana’s economic woes instead of engaging in what he termed “political grandstanding.”

The walkout, which occurred shortly before the Finance Minister began his presentation, has heightened tensions in Parliament.

Members on the Majority side have rallied behind the budget statement, praising it as a realistic roadmap for economic recovery and stability.

Meanwhile, the Minority has defended its action, citing concerns over rising living costs, debt levels, and what they claim is a lack of transparency in government spending.
