Frank Adu’s media criticism of Akufo-Addo gov't driven by personal grudge – Ex-NPP Youth

A former Suame Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Richard Agyemang, has alleged that Frank Adu, former Managing Director of Cal Bank, used a recent television interview to settle personal scores with former President Nana Akufo-Addo and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The ex-NPP youth leader described Mr Adu’s remarks as politically motivated and factually inaccurate.
“He only sought to settle personal scores with Akufo-Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta,” the former organiser stated in a strongly worded release, reacting to Mr Adu’s appearance on PM Express.
He questioned the motives behind Mr Adu’s criticisms, suggesting they were rooted in resentment rather than objective analysis.
He added that Mr Adu’s narrative ignored the facts and contributions of the NPP administration, particularly the effort to prevent the collapse of the banking sector, which indirectly protected Adu’s legacy and investment in CAL Bank.
“It is very obvious he is now enjoying the benefits of his long service at CAL Bank because the NPP administration intervened to safeguard his investments,” he stated.
While acknowledging Mr Adu’s standing in the financial sector, the former NPP youth organiser urged him to set aside personal grievances.
“It is very sad that Mr Frank Adu had the audacity to make such misrepresentations on a national media… This is a shame coming from someone who is considered part of the ‘establishment’ of the banking sector in Ghana,” he concluded.
