E/R: Kwahu South health directorate rolls out comprehensive health services for Easter festivities

As thousands of revellers prepare to converge on the Kwahu hills for the annual Easter celebration, the Kwahu South Municipal Health Directorate is rolling out a series of health-focused initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy festive season.
In collaboration with the Kwahu South Municipal Assembly, the health directorate aims to provide a secure and enjoyable environment for both residents and visitors.
The measures include free health screenings and public health education as part of a broader campaign to promote wellness during the festivities.
Speaking to the media, the Municipal Health Director, Abdul Aziz Mohammed, revealed that the directorate will offer free testing for HIV and hepatitis to encourage early detection and access to treatment.
In addition, free condoms will be distributed at designated centres to help reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and prevent unplanned pregnancies.
“We want everyone to enjoy the celebrations, but also be responsible for their health.
Simple actions like getting tested or using protection can go a long way in safeguarding your well-being,” Director Mohammed stated.
He also cautioned revellers against excessive alcohol consumption, which he said not only poses serious health risks but also contributes to road accidents and other emergencies during festive events.
“We are encouraging all visitors to adopt safe habits — drink responsibly, stay hydrated, and avoid risky behaviours. Your health matters,” he added.
The initiative forms part of the directorate’s annual Easter preparedness plan, which includes deploying health personnel across key locations to respond to emergencies and provide health education.
Authorities are hopeful that these proactive measures will help reduce the incidence of preventable illnesses and accidents during the Easter celebrations, making it a joyful and safe experience for all.
