UAE ambassador pledges support for Accra’s modernisation agenda

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged its support for the transformation of Accra into a modern, inclusive, and economically vibrant city.
The commitment was made by the UAE Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Dr. Abdulla Al Mandoos, during a courtesy call on the Mayor of Accra, Mr Michael Kpakpo Allotey, at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A.) on Monday.
The engagement centred on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring strategic development partnerships aimed at accelerating Accra’s urban transformation.
Discussions covered key sectors including city planning, waste management, infrastructure development, aviation, and knowledge exchange.
Both the Ambassador and the Mayor expressed a shared vision for sustainable urban development and agreed to collaborate closely in areas that will enhance the quality of life for residents and boost economic opportunities in Ghana’s capital.
Ambassador Al Mandoos reaffirmed the UAE’s readiness to leverage its experience in urban innovation and infrastructure to support Accra’s ambitions of becoming a model African city.
Mayor Allotey welcomed the gesture, noting that partnerships like this are crucial to achieving the A.M.A.'s goals of building a smart, green, and inclusive metropolis.
