Energy Minister John Jinapor inaugurates Petroleum Hub Development Corporation board
Energy Minister John Jinapor has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), marking a significant step toward the government’s vision of establishing a vibrant, competitive, and fully integrated petroleum hub for Ghana and the West African sub-region.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister underscored the strategic importance of the PHDC in transforming Ghana into a major energy and petroleum services centre.
He urged the board to take decisive actions to attract and secure strategic investments across the entire energy value chain.
Mr. Jinapor noted that the potential within the sector is vast—ranging from petroleum storage and refining to transportation and critical supporting infrastructure.
He emphasised that the Corporation must play a catalytic role in unlocking these opportunities to drive sustainable economic growth.
He highlighted that Ghana already functions, in many respects, as an energy hub for the sub-region, with electricity and petroleum products distributed through the country to neighbouring states.
The operationalisation of the PHDC, he said, will further strengthen this strategic position and help the nation leverage its advantages more effectively.
The newly inaugurated Board members are:
George Blay-Morkeh – Chairman
Dr. Toni Aubynn, Esq. – Acting CEO
David Ampofo
Francis Tettey-Sackey, Esq.
Patrick Ofori
Abednego Akuteck
Dr. Mizpah Ama Dziedzorm Rockson
The Ministry expressed confidence that the diverse expertise of the Board members will guide the PHDC toward achieving its mandate and contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s energy transformation agenda.
