CDS presents UN compensation to injured Ghanaian peacekeeper

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has presented a compensation package from the United Nations to Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Alhassan Habib, who was injured while on peacekeeping duty.
The presentation took place on Tuesday, July 22, during the CDS’s familiarisation visit to the 3 Garrison.
WOI Habib sustained injuries in a car accident during his deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), where he served with the Ghana Battalion 89 (GHANBATT 89).
The compensation is part of the UN’s broader framework to support personnel who suffer injury, illness, or death in the line of duty.
Lt Gen Agyapong reaffirmed the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to the welfare of its personnel, especially those serving in high-risk international operations.
He commended WOI Habib for his service and dedication and assured him of continued institutional support.
