V/R: Concerned parents demand removal of Ho Municipal Education Director

A group known as the Concerned Parents of Regional Model Basic School in the Volta Region has petitioned the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, demanding the removal of the Ho Municipal Education Director over alleged misconduct and activities creating an unconducive environment for teaching and learning.
At a press conference, the parents accused the Education Director of actions contributing to a decline in students' academic performance.
Their grievances include the unjustified transfer of qualified teachers, interference in PTA and school elections, the imposition of the Bridge-IT programme on parents, and the municipal education office’s takeover of PTA administration.
Additionally, the parents alleged that the Education Director has, on several occasions, threatened to dismiss students whose parents oppose her actions.
They view this as a direct intimidation tactic against concerned stakeholders.
The group is calling on the Volta Regional Minister to ensure transparency in the school's financial management and to investigate the unilateral imposition of exorbitant examination fees on students.
They also raised concerns over the hiring of a private individual to set examination papers, a role they believe should be handled by the teachers.
Presenting the petition to the Regional Minister, Emmanuel Adenyo, a member of the Concerned Parents group, urged the immediate removal of the Education Director to restore a conducive educational environment.
