Tano North MCE commended for restoring School Feeding Programme at Bomaa and Boukrukruwa

The Headmaster of Bomaa SDA Basic School, Mr. Baffour Awuah, has expressed gratitude to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano North, Mr. Pius Opoku, and the government for the swift restoration of the school feeding programme in the community.
Speaking in an interview with CTV and Accra FM during a visit by the Tano North Municipal Education Director and his team, Mr. Awuah disclosed that the school had been negatively affected by a recent misunderstanding between some caterers and residents of Bomaa.
The dispute escalated last week, leading to the destruction of food prepared for the pupils.
"The unfortunate incident discouraged many pupils from attending school because their parents couldn’t afford to give them money for food," Mr. Awuah said.
He, however, expressed satisfaction that the matter has been resolved and the feeding programme reinstated.
“School feeding is good and must be maintained because it helps the children,” he added.
Similarly, Mr. Amponsah Collins, Headmaster of Boukrukruwa R/C Primary School, also praised the MCE for reintroducing the feeding programme, stating that many of the pupils rely on it as their primary source of daily nutrition.
“The feeding programme plays a crucial role in encouraging school attendance and supporting the well-being of our pupils,” Mr. Collins emphasised.
The Tano North Municipal School Health Education Programme (SHEP) Coordinator, Madam Georgena Asante, shared her relief that the children are now receiving meals again after the misunderstanding.
She noted that the return of the programme would significantly improve attendance and focus in the classroom.
