Over 600,000 candidates set to write 2025 BECE today – GES assures smooth process

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that a total of 603,328 candidates are expected to sit for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the country.
The examination is scheduled to run from Wednesday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 18.
Speaking at a press conference, the Director-General of GES, Prof Ernest Davies, said all logistical and administrative arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth and credible examination process.
Prof. Davies issued a stern warning to invigilators and supervisors, emphasising that anyone caught aiding in examination malpractice will be dismissed immediately.
He stressed the GES’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the exam and the broader education system.
He also called on key stakeholders—teachers, parents, and community leaders—to support efforts to eliminate examination malpractices, which he described as a persistent threat to Ghana’s education standards.
Addressing concerns about school selection, Prof. Davies assured the public that all candidates will still be allowed to choose their preferred senior high schools, despite the official deadline having passed.
“The future of our children must not be compromised. We are committed to giving every candidate a fair opportunity,” he stated.
