SkyTrain scandal: CEO of GIIF to be tried in absentia-A-G

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has announced that investigations into the National Service and SkyTrain scandals are expected to conclude by mid-April, paving the way for prosecutions to commence.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Dr. Ayine revealed that in the National Service scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated, with some already cooperating with investigators.
Evidence suggests that payments were made into the accounts of top executives by vendors and staff.
Additionally, it is alleged that the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) and others paid a Ghanaian MP to suppress the story and publicly defend them.
On the SkyTrain scandal, Dr. Ayine confirmed that $2 million was paid at the request of Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), and Mr. Solomon Asamoah, the CEO.
Mr. Asamoah, however, is currently hiding in Senegal and has refused to return to Ghana, stating he will do so in three months.
Dr. Ayine stressed that if Asamoah fails to return, he will be tried in absentia.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ekumfi, who facilitated the fund transfer along with Asamoah, remains in Ghana and will face prosecution.
The Attorney- General reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring accountability and fighting corruption within public institutions.
