Armed robbery at Hills Oil filling station shakes Akyem Old Tafo

The town of Akyem Old Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region was thrown into shock last Monday night following a daring armed robbery at the Hills Oil gas filling station.
According to the station's manager, Mr. Seth Koranteng, the incident occurred around 7:00 PM on Monday evening, just as staff were closing operations for the day.
Heavily armed men stormed the premises, brandishing firearms and threatening workers at gunpoint.
The robbers made away with a cash amount of GH¢10,350, several mobile phones belonging to staff, and the station’s CCTV server, which reportedly contained surveillance footage of the incident and previous days’ activities.
Although no injuries were reported, the incident has left workers traumatised and raised alarm among residents about growing insecurity in the area.
The Akyem Tafo District Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the robbery and is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Authorities have also assured residents of their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
The incident has sparked renewed calls from residents and business owners for heightened security at fuel stations and commercial hubs, as concerns over safety in the region continue to grow.
