Togbe Anku Tsikata II, Afetorfia of Taviefe Avenya, has underscored the importance of intermarriages and shared family ties as a foundation for lasting unity and peaceful coexistence within the Taviefe community.

He made the remarks during the maiden general meeting of the Taviefe Traditional Council, where he issued a strong appeal for unity among chiefs, elders, and the youth, describing cohesion as a critical catalyst for accelerated development.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders to reflect on longstanding disputes and to chart a renewed path centred on progress, reconciliation, and collective responsibility.

Togbe Anku Tsikata II said the council had already made modest but meaningful strides, noting that the next phase of progress would require strategic collaboration, mutual engagement, and faith.

He stressed that unity among the various clans was essential to “set the flame for Taviefe to flourish,” urging traditional leaders to actively engage their counterparts across divides to build a common front for development.

Togbe Anku Tsikata II cautioned the youth against being drawn into chieftaincy disputes, emphasising that such matters fall within the remit of traditional authorities. He encouraged them instead to focus on development-oriented issues and to reflect on the legacy they intend to leave for themselves and future generations.

Supporting the call for unity, Mama Serwa Fenu III, Dutor-Nyornufia of Taviefe, observed that prolonged disputes had discouraged investors and members of the Taviefe diaspora, many of whom remain uncertain about where to align when they return home.

According to her, unity would restore confidence and help attract investment, create employment opportunities for the youth, and stimulate local development.

She disclosed that engagements were ongoing with leaders of the other faction as part of efforts to achieve reconciliation.

Mama Serwa Fenu III stressed that Taviefe is bigger than any individual, calling on all stakeholders to set aside their differences, embrace peace, and work collectively for the future of the community.

The Taviefe Traditional Council reaffirmed its commitment to mediation, peacebuilding, and development-focused leadership, as it works to foster unity and sustainable progress in the area.
