Radio host issues clarification over GIHOC CEO allegations aired on Accra 100.5 FM

A broadcaster with Accra 100.5 FM, Nana Otu Darko, has issued a formal clarification following a recent segment aired on Saturday, 3rd May 2025, that addressed unverified allegations of procurement irregularities involving the Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.
In a press release dated Monday, 5th May 2025, the host acknowledged that while the initial report was clearly framed as based on unconfirmed allegations, it may have inadvertently created a misleading impression about the GIHOC CEO’s conduct.
"I made it clear, devoid of any ambiguity or equivocation, that the claims were unverified and based solely on allegations received.
I had not yet obtained a response from the other side," the statement noted.
However, the broadcaster admitted that the narrative may have unfairly cast the CEO in a negative light.
"We now realise that the narrative may have inadvertently cast the CEO in a negative light, despite being presented as unverified allegations," it said.
Key among the issues raised in the original broadcast was the interpretation of certain purchase orders.
The host has now admitted that those figures were misinterpreted and miscalculated.
"We have re-analysed the related purchase orders and confirmed the correct figures.
We will disclose the accurate price per litre publicly on the show," the statement added.
Following further investigation and after offering the GIHOC CEO an opportunity to respond—citing the principles of fairness and journalistic ethics, the broadcaster concluded that the earlier broadcast did not reflect the complete facts of the matter.
Listeners and the general public are expected to be provided with the corrected information in an upcoming episode of the show.
