President John Mahama congratulates Egypt on opening of Grand Egyptian Museum
President John Dramani Mahama has extended warm congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the people of Egypt on the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, located just outside Cairo.
In a message shared after the event, President Mahama described the occasion as a “historic night in Cairo”, celebrating Egypt’s rich cultural legacy and its continued commitment to preserving global heritage.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, considered one of the largest archaeological museums in the world, houses thousands of artefacts spanning Egypt’s ancient civilisation, including the full collection from the tomb of King Tutankhamun.
President Mahama commended Egypt for its dedication to cultural preservation and tourism development, noting that the museum stands as a symbol of national pride and continental achievement.
“Congratulations, President El-Sisi and the people of Egypt.
It was a historic night in Cairo,” President Mahama remarked.
The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum marks a significant milestone in Africa’s cultural renaissance, reinforcing the continent’s global contribution to history, art, and civilisation.
