LDS Missionary Training Centre supports over 1,000 households in Kaneshie through LightTheWorld campaign
The Missionary Training Centre (MTC) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has reaffirmed its commitment to community service by supporting more than 1,000 households in Kaneshie, within the Okaikwei South constituency, as part of this year’s LightTheWorld campaign.
The annual outreach, a cherished tradition for the Church, focuses on spreading hope and compassion during the festive season.
This year’s exercise delivered essential food supplies to vulnerable families across the Ga Traditional Area.
Organised in collaboration with the Ga Mantse Foundation, the initiative provided care packages stocked with food staples such as 5kg bags of rice, canned foods, frozen chicken, cooking oil, beans, sugar, garri, millet, and other essentials to help beneficiaries celebrate Christmas with dignity and ease.
President of the Missionary Training Centre, President Benoit Duquette, said the LightTheWorld campaign has become a unifying tradition that brings communities, neighbours, and families together to lift burdens and reflect on the birth and teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, also addressed participants, highlighting the importance of unity within the Ga State.
He emphasised that harmony and togetherness are crucial to driving sustainable development.
The Member of Parliament for Okai Kwei South, Mr Ernest Adomako, encouraged the youth to celebrate the festive season responsibly and avoid social vices such as excessive drinking and smoking.
