Head-on collision claimed one life, 5 others in critical condition

A fatal road accident occurred on the Matse-Vane road in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region claiming one life, with five others in critical condition.
An Isuzu pickup with registration number GS 3468-17 and a saloon car with registration number GE 1056-16 collided on Matse-Ho road.
The accident, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), occurred on Thursday August 14,2025.
Speaking to the media, the Volta Regional Public Relations Officer for the (GNFS), ADO I Hope Bedzirah, said they responded swiftly to a distress call at 11:16 hours and arrived at the scene at 11:24 hours.
The GNFS team, led by STNO II Segbedzi Michael, rescued four victims from the saloon car and two from the Isuzu pickup, with the support from the Ghana National Ambulance Service (GNAS).
The victims have since been transported to Ho Teaching Hospital for medical care.
Unfortunately, the driver of the saloon car was confirmed dead on the spot.
The body has since been deposited at the Ho Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy and further investigation.
The Ho Municipal Fire Commander, DO II Seth Tay, urged drivers to be extremely careful during night, adding that the safety of the passengers depended on them hence must exercise carefulness whiles driving during the day and night.
The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service have since launched as investigation into the cause of the crash.
