Ghana has officially approved the orthography of the Ahanta language, known as Ayinda, for use in schools nationwide. The announcement was made today by Hon. Mavis Kuukua Bissue, Member of Parliament for Ahanta West.

The approval allows Ayinda to be taught and studied in Ghanaian schools for the first time. The orthography was developed over several years by language experts from the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT).

Hon. Bissue said the move is important for preserving the culture and identity of the Ahanta people. She explained that the language is vital to their traditions, laws, stories, and songs. She also noted that many children in the community have little opportunity to learn their native language due to lack of resources.

The official recognition is expected to promote literacy in Ayinda, create jobs for teachers, and help keep the language alive for future generations. A new fund called the *Ayindamaale Education Trust Fund* was also announced to support students learning the language, starting tomorrow.

This development is seen as a major step in Ghana’s efforts to preserve its diverse languages and cultural heritage.
