GNFS contains Asofan market fire, prevents escalation

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) swiftly responded to a commercial fire outbreak on Wednesday, September 03, 2025, at Asofan Market near West Hill, Accra.
The distress call was received at 0013 hours, and three pumps from Amasaman, Adjen Kotoku, and Anyaa Fire Stations were immediately mobilised.
The first crew arrived at 0042 hours, brought the situation under control at 0210 hours, and fully extinguished the fire at 0317 hours.
The incident led to the destruction of eight containers with their contents and several wooden shops.
However, firefighters successfully salvaged multiple shops, preventing further losses.
No casualties were recorded, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, a GNFS statement said.
