E/R: Christ Apostolic Church demolished after 17-year-old land dispute at Akim Akroso

Tensions are high in Akim Akroso in the Asene Manso Akroso District following the demolition of the Christ Apostolic Church building after a protracted 17-year land dispute with the Mpayebo Church.
The demolition, which followed a final court ruling in favour of Mpayebo Church, has sparked outrage and disappointment among members and sympathisers of the Christ Apostolic Church, who say they feel betrayed by the justice system.
“We are shocked and saddened by the court’s decision,” said one church member who spoke on condition of anonymity. “We believe justice has not been served, and we are considering all legal avenues to seek redress.”
The land conflict between the two churches dates back nearly two decades, with both parties laying claim to the same parcel of land.
After years of legal proceedings, the court ruled that the land rightfully belongs to Mpayebo Church, paving the way for the demolition of the Christ Apostolic Church structure.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many residents calling for calm and urging the churches to resolve the matter peacefully.
Several sympathisers of the Christ Apostolic Church have called for a review of the judgment, describing it as unjust and deeply hurtful.
Community leaders and religious stakeholders are reportedly engaging both sides to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace in the area.
