Dr. Seth Pascal Brenya honoured with 2025 Commonwealth Award for Outstanding Contribution to Youth Work
“For your absence to be felt, your presence must first be impactful.”
It is a simple but profound line Dr. Seth Pascal Brenya has repeated to his scholars for years—one that many credit with transforming their confidence and shaping their leadership journeys.
That same message echoed on the global stage in Kuala Lumpur, where Dr. Brenya was honoured with the 2025 Commonwealth Award for Outstanding Contribution to Youth Work.
The award, one of the Commonwealth’s highest recognitions for youth development, celebrates his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to empowering young people across Africa and beyond.
It crowns more than a decade of disciplined mentorship and high-impact leadership training that has influenced thousands of emerging leaders worldwide.
Dr. Brenya, a global human capital developer and CEO of Focus Central, is widely respected for his expertise in youth coaching, corporate wellness, and enterprise development.
He serves as Director of the Kufuor Scholars Programme, Lead Consultant for the PK Amoabeng Leadership Foundation, and Lead Facilitator for major youth initiatives under YALI Africa and the Commonwealth.
He is also an Assessor for the Rhodes Scholarship for West Africa, a member of the Academy of African Business and Development, and has served as a training consultant for organisations including FAO–UN and the British Council.
His academic contributions span GIMPA, Valley View University, and Datalink University College.
He previously hosted National Agenda on GTV and is a lifetime member of the Millennium Awards Fellowship (UK), as well as a recipient of the Londoners for London Award and the British Council Youth Award.
Dr. Brenya’s mentorship philosophy is rooted in intentional presence—ensuring young people not only gain skills but discover their purpose and voice.
Many of his scholars, who entered his programmes unsure of themselves, describe him as the catalyst who opened doors to opportunities such as competitive scholarships, international leadership platforms, and life-changing networks.
One scholar, reflecting on his influence, said:
“This award reflects his unwavering dedication to transforming young lives.
For those privileged to learn under him, we’ve always known he is building our confidence, expanding our vision, and grounding us in ethical leadership.”
In his emotional acceptance speech, Dr. Brenya reaffirmed the mission that has guided his life’s work.
“I’m so touched,” he said. “I dedicated my life to helping young people who feel neglected—bringing out the best in them and restoring their voice to be heroes of change.”
He added a challenge to leaders and changemakers everywhere:
“We were set up with one mission—to challenge the status quo, help young people reach their full potential, and make a difference regardless of the circumstances.
Each of us is mandated to make this world a better place for the unborn.
The question is: whose life are you going to touch today?”
With the 2025 Commonwealth Award, Dr. Seth Pascal Brenya’s legacy as one of Africa’s and the Commonwealth’s most influential youth development champions is firmly cemented.
The honour stands not only as recognition of past achievements but as a renewed call to continue shaping the next generation of confident, ethical, and purpose-driven leaders.
