Kwahu shows Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II exit over alleged misconduct

The Kwahu Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has officially removed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II from his position as Kwahumanhene, citing allegations of misconduct and financial impropriety.
The destoolment decision follows accusations related to his former role as Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank’s board, where he faced charges of extortion from a bank customer, ultimately leading to his resignation from the board.
Confirming the council's decision, Kwahumanhemaa Nana Adwoa Gyamfuah II speaking in an interview stated that Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II's actions had caused significant reputational harm to the Kwahu Traditional Council.
"We have destooled Eugene Kwasi Boadi Asante (Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II)," Nana Gyamfuah said. "The traditional council frowns on chiefs who do not rule in truth.
He has brought reputational damage to Kwahuman and cannot continue to serve as the Chief of Kwahu.”
In accordance with Akan customs, Nana Gyamfuah explained, the council is preparing to enstool a new chief through consultation with the Kingmakers.
The Abetifihene, Nana Asiedu Agyemang III, has assumed the role of acting president of the Kwahu Traditional Council in the interim.
The council, consisting of 20 chiefs and queen mothers, met on November 13 to deliberate on the matter, unanimously agreeing on the destoolment.
“We performed rites, calling on the gods to help us enstool a new chief who will serve Kwahuman honourably,” Nana Gyamfuah added.
