Buipewura Jinapor secures Vice Presidential position in National House of Chiefs with record votes

Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area in the Savannah Region, has been elected as the Vice President of the National House of Chiefs.
In an election held on Friday, 22nd November 2024, in Kumasi, Buipewura Jinapor secured a significant victory, receiving 52 votes and defeating three other contenders for the position.
In the same elections, Nana Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II was re-elected for a second term as President of the National House of Chiefs.
He garnered 42 votes, surpassing the Chief of Dormaa, Osaagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, who received 30 votes. One ballot was declared invalid during the counting process.
The elections were delayed for several hours due to discussions concerning a legal suit. The suit was brought forward by Nana Samgba Gyafla, the Chief of Sampa, which necessitated a brief pause as the House of Chiefs reviewed the legal concerns raised.
Despite the initial delay, the elections proceeded smoothly, resulting in a decisive outcome for both the President and Vice President positions.
The National House of Chiefs looks forward to continuing its work under the leadership of Nana Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II and his newly elected Vice President, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II.
