Shatta Wale ‘catalysed’ the success of ‘Excellent’ hit – Kojo Blak

According to singer Kojo Blak, “Shatta Wale’s influence catalysed” the popularity of his Excellent hit.
He explained to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo midmorning show that Reggae/Dancehall artiste and record producer Shatta Wale mentioned him and played his song several times during live streams on social media, causing his “strong fanbase” to take a liking to him and his music.
“Because if somebody like Shatta Wale loves a song, they’d like to know more about the artiste,” Kojo Black added.
He said although he was yet to meet Shatta Wale, “I speak to him on phone”.
“I won’t lie – the energy, the warm reception, I get from all these legends in Ghana is remarkable!” the Afrobeats crooner said happily.
Kojo Blak’s Excellent, released in December 2024, became a viral song in the New Year. In February 2025, Shatta Wale appeared on a TikTok Live feed during which he spotlighted Kojo Blak, playing Excellent, and showing great fondness for the song.
On May 10, Kojo Blak did a solo performance of the song which originally featured Kelvynboy at Ghana’s most prestigious entertainment awards show, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
