Volta Region charts path to investment-led growth at maiden Economic Forum
The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), in collaboration with the Volta Corridor Investment Centre (VCIC), has extended appreciation to stakeholders for their immense contribution to the success of the maiden Volta Economic Forum held in Ho.
The press release, dated November 3, 2025, was signed by Dr. Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, Volta Regional Commissioner to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
The high-level event brought together government officials, Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, diplomats, development partners, private sector executives, academia, and civil society representatives to deliberate on strategies for transforming the region’s economy through targeted investment and strategic planning.
Dr. Apetorgbor, who also serves as Chair of the Forum’s Steering Committee, described the event as “a defining step in positioning the Volta Region as a frontier for inclusive and sustainable growth.”
He said the Volta Region’s strategic location, natural endowments, and skilled human capital present vast opportunities for industrialisation, renewable energy, tourism, logistics, and agribusiness.
The forum identified key pathways for economic advancement, including renewable energy expansion, agro-industrial value chain development, logistics infrastructure improvement, tourism promotion, and blue economy initiatives.
Dr. Apetorgbor said the next phase of the initiative would involve close collaboration with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), private sector players, and development partners to translate the investment prospects into tangible, bankable projects and public–private partnerships.
“Our next phase is action. The region is committed to deepening collaboration with investors and institutions to deliver concrete results that create jobs, boost productivity, and enhance the well-being of our people,” he stated.
Traditional leaders and private sector representatives at the forum also pledged to support the implementation of agreed outcomes, highlighting the importance of community participation and sustainable resource use.
The VRCC announced that the Volta Economic Forum would be institutionalised as an annual platform for investment promotion, policy dialogue, and coordinated regional development, ensuring accountability and continuity in implementing growth initiatives.
“The Volta Economic Forum is not an event but a movement that gears towards economic transformation, investment confidence, and shared prosperity,” the statement concluded.
