DVLA kick starts 24-hour service on Wednesday

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is set to open its first 24-hour operational service centre on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Adentan municipality in the Greater Accra Region, in alignment with the government’s drive to establish a 24-hour economy.
Strategically located at the GAPTE (Ayalolo) Head Office near Ritz Junction along the Ashaley Botwe Road (GPS: GD-023-2181), the new ultra-modern facility aims to bring DVLA services closer to the public and provide continuous access to critical licensing and registration services.
“This bold step positions DVLA as one of the first public service institutions to extend operations in direct support of the national 24-hour economy policy,” said DVLA Chief Executive, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey.
“The Adentan office will serve customers around the clock, ensuring convenience and flexibility for all motorists.”
The facility will offer a full range of DVLA services, including driver’s license applications, renewals, and vehicle registration.
The Authority says the move is intended to significantly improve accessibility, reduce service bottlenecks, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Mr. Kotey reaffirmed the DVLA’s commitment to delivering services that meet global standards, stating, “We are adopting internationally accepted practices in road safety and licensing management to ensure world-class service delivery.”
In a related development, the DVLA will soon roll out a new public engagement initiative dubbed “Time with the Chief Executive”.
This platform will provide journalists and the general public with an opportunity to interact directly with the DVLA CEO, raise concerns, seek clarifications, and learn more about ongoing and upcoming projects within the Authority.
The DVLA is calling on stakeholders, media personnel, and the general public to attend the inauguration ceremony and witness what it describes as “a new era in public service — accessible, efficient, and always open.”
