Minority slams gov't over electricity tariffs, youth dismissals and cocoa price cut
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has delivered a scathing critique of the government's performance, accusing it of relying on slogans rather than action.
“One year in government is still acting with slogans but no action,” he stated, highlighting concerns over skyrocketing electricity tariffs, youth dismissals, and a scandal in security services recruitment.
The Minority Leader also slammed the government over the reduced cocoa producer price, questioning the absence of Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, from Parliament
He made this accusation while making a statement after President John Dramani Mahama delivered his second State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Friday, February 27.
He accused the government of indifference to cocoa farmers' suffering.
“Ghanaians continue to suffer under these galamsey hardships; we expect concrete actions to be taken on Galamsey,” he added.
The opposition intends to expose individuals involved in the Tribe Net scandal, with the Minority Leader stating, “Very soon, a senior appointee who is in charge of the Tribe Net will go to jail.”
The Minority has challenged the government to a debate on the State of the Nation Address, promising to present “the true State of the Nation” by Monday
