Bismark Tawiah Boateng praises Mahama over food surplus in School Feeding Programme
A former Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has commended the NDC government for what he describes as a remarkable improvement in the implementation of the School Feeding Programme.
Speaking on Citizen Show on Accra 100.5 FM, hosted by Nana Otu Darko, Mr. Boateng stated that the current administration has performed creditably, particularly in ensuring adequate food supply to schools across the country.
According to him, a visit to various beneficiary schools under the School Feeding Programme reveals significant food surpluses — a development he says is unprecedented in Ghana’s history.
“The government has done really well. If you go to the schools, you will see that food commodities have overflowed.
In some places, there is even limited space to store them,” he said.
Mr. Boateng, who indicated that he is affiliated with the Ghana Commodity Board and involved in food stock management, noted that essential items such as rice and eggs are now available in abundance for the programme.
He stressed that such a situation had not occurred before under previous administrations.
He attributed the improvement to the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, stating that his return to office has brought renewed commitment and what he described as “the fear of God” in governance.
“With the help of John Dramani Mahama and his government, we are witnessing something we have not seen before in this country,” he added.
However, Mr. Boateng also questioned whether all government appointees are fully supporting the President’s vision.
While acknowledging that some are working diligently, he suggested that others need to step up to match the administration’s agenda.
