AMA donates to staff injured in road crashes, supports workers battling stroke
The Okaikoi South Sub-Metropolitan District Council of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has presented cash donations to some staff members who sustained injuries in road crashes while on duty and others currently battling stroke, reaffirming its commitment to staff welfare.
The support package was delivered during a visit led by the Sub-Metro Director, Mad. Mercy Odoi, as part of the Assembly’s broader effort to demonstrate care and solidarity with employees facing health challenges.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Madam Odoi said the Assembly had a responsibility to stand by workers who encounter medical difficulties in the line of duty. She explained that the financial assistance was intended to help cover medication and other immediate treatment needs.
“This gesture is to show that the Assembly has not forgotten them. We recognise their sacrifices and want to support them as they focus on recovery,” she noted.
According to her, the visit was not solely about financial aid but also aimed at boosting morale and offering emotional encouragement to the affected staff.
She emphasized that the workers had made significant contributions to the Assembly’s operations over the years and deserved compassion, recognition and institutional backing during difficult times.
The Director further assured them that the Sub-Metro would continue to monitor their conditions and explore additional ways to support their recovery.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the AMA to prioritise staff welfare and strengthen workplace support systems across its departments, particularly for employees who suffer injuries or illness while serving the community.
