Dr Bertha Serwa Bonsu Ayi appointed Brand Ambassador for Central Aid
Dr Bertha Serwa Bonsu Ayi has been appointed a Brand Ambassador for Central Aid at Central University, Ghana.
The US-based Ghanaian physician, educator, and global health strategist described the role as a “full-circle moment” given her longstanding association with International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).
In a statement, Dr Ayi said she had been a member of ICGC since 1988 and served as a youth leader during the early years of the church.
She recalled that the church’s pastors at the time included Rev. Kofi Otchere, Rev. Eshun and Rev. Frank Opoku Amoako.
“We would go to the Dansoman location for counselling, motivation and fellowship. I knew the building. I remember those early days,” she said.
Dr Ayi said she was also present when the vision that would eventually become Central University was taking shape, and has since had the privilege of watching the vision develop into Central University.
“I was there when the vision that would eventually become a university was taking shape. I believed in that vision,” she said.
According to Dr Ayi, her appointment followed an invitation from Rev. Dr Albert Rockson, Executive Director of Central Aid.
“So when Rev. Dr. Albert Rockson, Executive Director of Central Aid, reached out to invite me to become a Brand Ambassador, it felt like a very special full-circle moment,” she said.
Dr Ayi said Central Aid was working to support students who face financial barriers to their education.
“Central Aid is working to support students who face financial barriers to their education, and I am honoured to use my voice and networks to help advance that mission,” she said.
She said her commitment to the vision remained unchanged.
“I believed in the vision then. I believe in it today. And I am honoured to help carry it forward,” she said.
