Speaker of Parliament honoured by the Catholic Church
The Wa Diocese of the Catholic Church has paid tribute to Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the people of Ghana.
The recognition was made during a Eucharistic Celebration held on January 30, 2026, at the Chapel of the Bishop of Wa Diocese.
According to a statement released by the Parliamentary Service, the Bishop of Wa Diocese, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., commended the Speaker's exceptional statesmanship and passion for the underprivileged.
The Speaker was praised for his humility, service, love, and integrity, qualities that are rare in public servants.
In response, the Speaker expressed his gratitude to the church for the honour and called for their continued prayer and spiritual guidance for the country's leadership.
He also acknowledged the Catholic Church's significant contributions to Ghana's development, particularly in underprivileged regions such as the Upper West.
The Speaker encouraged the Church to continue its work in caring for both the spiritual and material needs of the underprivileged, and pledged Parliament's continued support for the Church's initiatives.
The event highlights the Speaker's commitment to serving the people of Ghana and his appreciation for the Catholic Church's role in the country's development.
