RCOMSDEP credits lands minister’s initiatives for improvements in water bodies and forest reserves
The Director of Communications for the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (RCOMSDEP), John Afful, says measures and initiatives introduced by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, have contributed significantly to the purification of polluted water bodies and the reclamation of degraded forest reserves across the country.
Speaking to the media, Mr Afful noted that the sector has recorded notable progress due to the minister’s commitment to sustainable and responsible natural resource management.
He explained that the implementation of targeted policies and community-based interventions under the RCOMSDEP framework has helped reverse environmental damage caused by illegal mining activities.
Mr Afful also gave further insight into how individuals and groups can become part of the minister’s RCOMSDEP initiative, which promotes legal, environmentally responsible mining while offering skills development and alternative livelihood opportunities.
He encouraged small-scale miners, youth groups, and other stakeholders to take advantage of the programme, describing it as a sustainable pathway toward environmental protection and economic empowerment.
