Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as ‘Ghana Jollof’ on TikTok, has challenged the Ghanaian government to extradite her from the United Kingdom following her declaration as wanted by the Ghana Police Service.

She said she does not believe the government can secure her extradition because, in her view, the circumstances would amount to political persecution.

“I dare the government of Ghana that if they can use extradition to bring me from the country that I reside in to Ghana, they can't,” she said.

“They can’t because there is no law that will allow them to extradite me.”

She added that she would only return to Ghana voluntarily.

“Unless I decide to come myself because the laws that we use for extradition, they have destroyed it. And when it’s political persecution, no government will allow you,” she said in an interview on TikTok monitored by Class News.

Kodua also defended 40-year-old nurse Salomey Awiti Baffoe, who was arrested by the police over allegations that she helped circulate videos allegedly produced by the UK-based operator of the ‘Ghana Jollof’ TikTok account.

She described the arrest as politically motivated and questioned the basis of the police case against Baffoe.

“They see her husband is an NPP communication director in Chicago, USA, and they want to just frustrate the wife,” she said.

“The police has no [credible] charge against this woman.”
